Too Cool for School Portraits
We’re so excited to capture your child’s spirit, just as they are right now. We encourage you to let your child’s personality shine through with styling. Whether they’re low-key and classic, or wild and modern, and everything in between. We love it all! When your babies are grown and gone, you’ll see these photos and remember how sweet their little souls were. Our babies will always be our babies.

Styling
For classic portraits- avoid graphics, logos, words, and neon clothing. Solid colors or simple prints are best, and choose a color that you love with their hair and skin-tone.
For personality portraits- choose clothes that represent your kiddo just as they are right now. Costumes, fancy dresses, giant hair-bows, sport-themed clothing, it’s all fantastic. Accessories are great and add to the fun!
We recommend avoiding solid clothing that matches the background, to prevent your child from blending into the background. Poses will include close-up portraits and full body.
Style hair however you like. Feel free to be creative but simplicity is lovely as well.
Important: Check your child’s face for “crusties” :) Every kiddo (especially our younger ones) tends to have something around their eyes, nose, or mouth. A quick wash in the sink or with a baby wipe will do the trick.
Bonus tip: If you’d like to display your photos in your home, keep in mind accent colors that you may want to compliment. Consider the colors and style in the space where the photos will live and base your styling around that. This is completely optional of course!
Session
During the session
I’ll direct your kiddos throughout the session. It’s perfectly natural to feel nervous or uncomfortable in front of the camera. I will talk to them, make jokes, have them take deep breaths or shake the stiffness out of their pose. Most kids end up having a pretty good time! Please don't stress over the behavior of your children. I'm a mom of three and have been photographing families for years so there's not a behavior that I haven't seen expressed. Be sure that they're well rested and have a full tummy. With younger kids it's nice to have a treat on hand (we're not above bribing) and with older kids a treat after the session is a great way to encourage cooperation.
If time and child temperament permits, a complimentary group sibling photo is included.
Please arrive 10 minutes early to allow time for parking and getting into the studio. If you arrive late your session will last only to the end of your time block. Have the kiddos ready when you arrive.
After the session
A gallery of at least 3 (usually more) unique hand-edited digital images, in both color and black and white, will be emailed to you within 10 days of your session. From this online gallery you may download the digital images included with your session. I offer high resolution digital images because it’s important to me that you have the archival quality images to keep forever, and print from whenever you’d like. For your convenience and to ensure the quality of your prints and products, you may also purchase prints, canvases, and more from your gallery. Digital photos will be emailed to you for download with print release. Prints and products will be shipped to the studio and available for pickup. Galleries will be open for seven days with a fee of $25 to re-open. Sales tax will be added to all prices at checkout.

Session is non-refundable but is transferrable. In the event of illness do not attend your session. Contact us at vanessabrackphoto@gmail.com to make alternative arrangements.
No more than two adults may accompany children in the studio. Please do not bring children not being photographed as they are a distraction to the other children.
There are no guarantees to the poses or shots we capture. Reshoots will not be given for client wardrobe, hair, makeup and appearance, and child/children temperament.
In the event of photographer illness, emergency, or severe weather, we will reschedule within a limited timeframe.
